We know it’s only the middle of November, and most people haven’t even thought about putting up their Christmas lights or Christmas tree yet, but here at Sweet Scarlet headquarters, the countdown is on! We’ve been preparing for the holidays for MONTHS!
Our preparation for the holiday season usually begins in June or July, when we start scouting out new Christmas music for our annual holiday show, Winter Songs. In August, we normally hold our annual Christmas “listening party,” where we decide as a group which new songs to tackle for our holiday repertoire. And as soon as we have the new music in our hands, we start rehearsing!
These days, most of our new songs are in pretty good shape – but now it’s time to put the show together! That happens in our weekly rehearsals, and also in a day-long rehearsal “retreat” at the end of November. Here, we finetune our vocals, rehearse our choreography until it’s second nature, and have a ton of fun together, making sure that this year’s show will really sparkle!
